
In the early morning of Saturday, December 21, 2024, a powerful explosion occurred in an apartment building on Robert Schumanring in Vlaardingen. The blast, which took place around 3:15 AM, caused significant damage to the building; windows were shattered, and doors destroyed.
As a result of the explosion, eighteen apartments were evacuated, and residents were accommodated in a nearby care home.
One person was assessed on-site by ambulance personnel.
The police escalated the situation to ‘GRIP 1’ and have initiated an investigation into the cause of the explosion.
The Explosives Reconnaissance Team was present to assess the situation.
Later in the morning, the first residents were able to return to their homes after the situation was declared safe.
